2019 four-star outside linebacker Rian Davis announced his Top 12 schools. Texas football made the cut. That’s a great sign for the Longhorns.

Rian Davis announced on Twitter he had trimmed his list of prospective schools down to twelve. The Texas Longhorns made the cut, as did several other prestigious programs. Along with Texas, the schools that made the made the cut were Georgia, Ohio State, North Carolina State, Indiana, Alabama, Miami, Houston, Louisville, Clemson, Oregon, and Arizona State.

The 6-foot-2, 233 pound recruit from Apopka, Florida is the No. 11 ranked outside linebacker in the nation. I spoke to Davis about where the Longhorns stand in his mix of offers, “Texas is one of my top schools,” he said, “I have a good relationship with coach Orlando.”

An ESPN 300 recruit, Davis has been invited to the coveted The Opening Finals a premier football competition for the nations best athletes. Davis’ SPARQ test results which are used to judge speed, power, agility, reaction, and quickness are as follows:

40-yard dash: 4.76
20-yard shuttle: 4.78
Vertical jump: 34.5
Power throw: 43.0
SPARQ rating: 105.18

The four-star has also been invited to the prestigious Under Armor All-America Game in January of next year. The incoming Wekiva High School senior has an impressive resume. In two years he has recorded 145 total tackles, six sacks, two fumbles recovered, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

While some may think Miami might be a favorite for the Wekiva player, he is originally from Texas and played for Clear Lake High School in Houston in 2016.

Davis is listed as an outside linebacker, he also has played defensive end at Wekiva, which adds to his versatility. Texas has only three outside linebackers on roster right now, seniors Charles Omenihu and Breckyn Hager, and sophomore Ta’Quon Graham.

The Longhorns also do not have any commits for the position in the 2019 class. With both Omenihu and Hager being seniors, Texas desperately needs to build some depth at the outside linebacker position.

Texas extended an offer to Davis back in March and could use him in the rover position if he decides to call the 40 Acres home. Davis has yet to schedule and official visit to Texas. Hopefully he does, because his film certainly looks impressive.
