Texas A&M football has concluded its spring with the annual scrimmage. What did we learn from the Aggies’ 2018 spring ball?

Jimbo Fisher’s first spring in College Station is in the books and the Aggies had a strong showing during the annual scrimmage. Could this team be a serious contender for the SEC title or will it take a couple of seasons to build momentum before that can happen?

Texas A&M improved in some important areas and this year’s team could have one of the better offenses in the conference as well as an impressive defense.

The Aggies have a lot to work on this summer, though, as they will have a major target on their backs with one of the best head coaches in college football taking over for Kevin Sumlin. The SEC won’t take it easy on the Aggies, but they’ll be ready for the fight.

What’d we learn about Texas A&M this spring?

5. Offensive line has serious work to do

Sure, we could cough this one up to the defensive line being one of the strongest units on the team, but the offensive line struggled to get any sort of push during April’s spring game and it could be a work in progress until the season opener against Northwestern State.

Erik McCoy and Colton Prater are early favorites to win starting jobs at center and guard, respectively, but the rest of the line looks to be fair game. There will be plenty of competition throughout the summer.

The offensive line needs some tooling and gelling in the next couple of months in order to make the Aggies 2018 contenders.
