3. Jhamon Ausbon is the clear No. 1 receiver

There couldn’t be a better replacement for Christian Kirk as the team’s No. 1 receiver than Jhamon Austin, a sophomore from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Ausbon became one of the more impressive receivers on the team in his first year, catching 50 passes for 571 yards and three touchdowns. He was third on the team in receiving in 2017 and returns as the team’s top wide out in terms of yardage and receptions.

During the spring game, Ausbon looked like that No. 1 receiver everyone expected him to be with the departures of Kirk and Damion Ratley. The 6-2, 220-pound wide out may not have breakaway speed, or at least didn’t showcase it during the spring game, but he’s athletic enough to get open and strong enough to drag defenders when he needs to.

We could see one of the best tandems in the SEC this season when Nick Starkel hits Ausbon game in and game out. These two connected multiple times and looked like they’ve been working together all offseason to improve chemistry.
