Texas football picked up another big commitment with the addition of tight end Brayden Liebrock to the Longhorns’ 2019 recruiting class.
Brayden Liebrock has made his pledge to Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns. This is a huge get for the Longhorns who were competing for the Arizona native’s signature with schools such as Ohio State, Arizona State, and Cal Berkley.
The 6-foot-5, 220 pound recruit took his official visit to Texas on May 4, his last after officials to Arizona State, Colorado, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Ole Miss.
On Tuesday, the sought after three-star recruit announced himself as the newest member of Texas’ class of 2019.
Per 247Sports, Liebrock is the No. 6 ranked tight end in Arizona and the No. 13 nationally. Currently Texas has only three tight ends on roster, including Andrew Beck, Cade Brewer, and Reese Leitao.
The Longhorns will welcome four-star 2018 signee Malcom Epps this season which will up their tight end count to four. Liebrock is the only commit for his position in the Texas 2019 class but he brings reliable hands and quickness on the field.
As a junior, Liebrock recorded 600 receiving yards, 39 catches, five touchdowns and averaged 15.4 yards per catch. Liebrock also runs a speedy 40 yard dash, clocking in at 4.6. Impressive for a tight end of his size and an important skill to have when facing college linebackers.
His height, hands, and speed will be an excellent combination for the Texas quarterback looking to make a first down completion. Liebrock’s size will also be an advantage for him when blocking at the line of scrimmage in the Big 12.

Based on his film, Liebrock offers a big target with excellent reflexes and quickness to his quarterback. He is able to change direction without slowing down too heavily and can make grabs even when the ball is off the mark.
Whether it will be Sam Ehlinger or Shane Buechele throwing to him on Saturdays, Liebrock is a tight end that will make plays and move the chains.
