Georgia football starting quarterback Jake Fromm could meet his brother Tyler, an Auburn commit, on the gridiron as early as 2019.
The SEC attracts some of the best football talent in the country, so it’s no surprise when talented football families don’t stray too far afield. Georgia will have a second set of rival brothers playing for their squad.
The Bulldogs have speedy wide receiver Riley Ridley playing, while his older brother, Calvin, played for Alabama last season. The brothers met up on the gridiron during the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Calvin was selected in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, while Riley still has a few more years of eligibility.
Now, Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm will feel the pain of having a sibling play against him. His younger brother, Tyler Fromm, just announced his intention to play for SEC West rival Auburn. His decision must be even more poignant considering the history the two teams had last season. Auburn beat Georgia in the regular-season game 40-17. Later, in the SEC Championship game, Georgia came out swinging to take down the Tigers 28-7.
The Auburn-Georgia game is so intense that it’s the called the “Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry”, because the two teams have been playing each other every year since 1892. No matter the season, the two teams have an intense antagonism and you can always expect a great game when the Bulldogs and the Tigers take the field. Now this rivalry has become a family affair, particularly for the Fromms.

Tyler Fromm was a widely-recruited three-star prospect, fielding offers from LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, USC, and Vanderbilt before committing to Auburn.
Older brother Jake Fromm was the signal-caller for the Bulldogs when they played in the national championship game, an impressive feat for a freshman. He will be a junior when Tyler starts at Auburn. That should make the 2019 season a really interesting one in the Fromm house.
