3. La’Michael Pettway is a strong breakout candidate

While the defensive backfield looked better than expected, you can’t overlook the performance by junior wide receiver La’Michael Pettway who showed he can be more of a contributor in 2018 than he has been through his first couple of seasons.

In fact, he has just seven total receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown in his career with the Razorbacks, but he nearly matched that two-year total in the spring game when he caught six passes for 91 yards. His big, strong frame allows him to bully defensive backs and he doesn’t go down easy.

Imagine being a 5-10, 190-pound corner and trying to tackle a 6-2, 220-pound receiver in the open field. It just doesn’t happen easily.

Arkansas won’t have a shortage of big playmakers in 2018, especially if Pettway steps up and becomes another valuable option.

Big-bodied receivers don’t grow on trees so Chad Morris has to find a way to utilize this relatively under-appreciated receiver.
