Ole Miss Football: 5 takeaways from Rebels’ spring 2018
1. Jordan Ta’amu is primed for a monster season
Although he didn’t have eye-popping numbers in the spring game, going just 12-of-20 for 190 yards and a couple of scores, senior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu showed that he hasn’t skipped a beat since last season.
After replacing Shea Patterson in the second half of the 2017 season, he passed for 1,682 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing 66 percent of his passes. He added 165 rushing yards and four more touchdowns, even scoring one in the spring scrimmage.
There’s no doubt about it, with Patterson gone, this is Ta’amu’s offense, and he’s not afraid of the pressure. He looked comfortable in the pocket during the spring game as his confidence seems to be on the rise. It’s hard to think that he could be even better than he was last season, but Ta’amu looks poised for a monster season as a potential Heisman dark-horse.

The Rebels’ quarterback situation is in good hands for the foreseeable future and Ta’amu may be the next to break the 4,000-yard mark through the air — the last was Chad Kelly in 2015.
