Former Texas A&M football star Johnny Manziel is playing professional football in Canada but that doesn’t mean his gear will be any cheaper.
After a prolonged time away from professional football Johnny Manziel is making his comeback official. The former Texas A&M star announced he will play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL starting in the 2018 season. That news sent fans to the internet in a mad dash to get their very own Manziel jersey. There was just one problem – the exorbitant price.
The Tiger-Cats don’t list jerseys for individual players in their team store. Fans that want to purchase a jersey with a specific name and number (i.e. #2, Manziel) have to order a fully customized jersey. The standard jersey starts at $119.99 CAD and the customization costs an addition $80 CAD. Tack on another $15 CAD for shipping. Now you’re looking at a grand total of $215 CAD to get Manziel’s first CFL jersey.
The exchange rate between the United States and Canada will bring the cost down to somewhere around $160. The jersey look sleek, but that’s a pretty penny for a player that hasn’t played a down of professional football since 2015. If things go according to plan, Manziel won’t even be rocking the Ti-Cat black and yellow very long. His contract is set to expire following the 2019 season.
Manziel’s Cleveland Brown jerseys are still available at the NFL Shop in youth and women’s sizes. If you’re an adult male, and the vast majority of those who will be interested in getting more Manziel memorabilia are, you’ll have to pony up some cash or wait til Manziel gets another chance at playing in the NFL in 2020.

For Manziel’s fans, seeing him on the field once again could be enough. However, once they see him evade a defender, scramble around the edge and hurl a 60 yard touchdown strike they might not be able to resist taking the plunge and sporting an authentic Johnny Football jersey.
