Hunter Johnson has announced that he’s transferring out of Clemson. What are the five best landing spots for the former five-star quarterback?
Hunter Johnson arrived in Clemson, S.C., expecting to be the heir apparent to Deshaun Watson. The former five-star quarterback from Brownsburg, Ind., played in seven games while backing up Kelly Bryant in 2017. He threw for 234 yards while completing 78 percent of his passes and averaged 8.7 yards per attempt as a Tiger.
Johnson’s rushing stats didn’t flash his dual-threat ability, though. He finished the 2018 spring game 8-of-14 passing or 85 yards a touchdown and an interception.
After seemingly being beaten out by freshman Trevor Lawrence, Johnson has now decided to transfer and there are viable options for the young quarterback although he will have to sit out for the 2018 season, per NCAA rules.
Johnson is from Indiana and there are a few strong programs in-state that he could find a home with, as well as other Midwestern Power Five schools where he would be welcomed with open arms.
Here are the five best landing spots for Johnson as he hits the transfer market.
