Johnathan Taylor was a breakout star as a freshman for Wisconsin football. Can he have a repeat performance and make a run for the 2018 Heisman Trophy?
Following a strong line of succession of Wisconsin running backs, Johnathan Taylor opened eyes last season as a talented and productive rusher. He proved to be a vital part of a Wisconsin team that dominated the Big Ten West. The Badgers went on to an undefeated regular season before dropping the Big Ten Championship game to Ohio State.
The New Jersey native was well-decorated last season reaping the rewards of being named a Freshman All-American while also being selected first team All-Big Ten. In addition, he was also a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation’s top running back annually.
Taylor returns as a Heisman vote-getter that collected two first-place nominations. He placed second in votes out of all returning running backs behind some stiff competition in Stanford’s Bryce Love.
These accolades certainly merit a strong case to his Heisman potential let alone his college legacy. Here are five reasons why Taylor will be capable of making a strong push for the Heisman in 2018.
