3. Greg Eisworth has talent to start right away

Speaking of first-year contributors, JUCO transfer Greg Eisworth looks like a potential star in the secondary for the Cyclones.

Iowa State will be forced to find two new starting safeties in 2018 after ranking second in the Big 12 in passing defense in 2017. Although that may seem like an impressive feat, No. 2 in the conference was good for just No. 86 in the nation. The Cyclones didn’t fare well against the pass, but with Eisworth entering the mix, they could see a major improvement.

The JUCO transfer from Grand Prairie, Texas, was listed as the No. 60 recruit at that level in 2018 and the third-best safety, per 247Sports. The one-time Ole Miss signee drew major Big 12 interest out of high school, but committed to the Rebels before going the JUCO route.

Eisworth was a prized JUCO recruit and he’s been showing it with the Cyclones. In fact, he’s been named the defensive MVP of the spring by Campbell. He will see the field early on for the Cyclones and could be a star for Iowa State in 2018.
