2. He’s waited his turn

Wimbush was a highly-touted recruit out of high school and playing in the same offense as Minkah Fitzpatrick— the No. 11 pick in the latest NFL Draft– definitely helped his cause.

The initial hype surrounding Wimbush was high, but he had to wait his turn to get a shot at being the full-time starter. During his freshman season, he served as the backup quarterback and during his sophomore season, he didn’t play at all as he donned the Red Army cap as third-string on the depth chart behind Zaire and Kizer.

In his junior season (2017), he emerged as the starting quarterback and the numbers he put up should put him in a spot to be the starter once again for his senior season.

Kelly has voiced his confidence in Wimbush and in a report after the Stanford loss written by Laken Litman of the IndyStar, Kelly said this about his quarterback:

"“But his traits in terms of all the things that a quarterback needs in terms of his makeup, he has those. That’s pretty exciting. But we’ve gotta clean up some mechanics.”"

As Kelly mentioned, Wimbush has some offseason work to do, but then again, nobody is perfect. The good news is, the quarterback is hungry and dedicated to perfecting his game.
