Michigan State football added some size to their offensive line with the commitment of three-star, 6-foot-5 offensive tackle Nick Samac.

Michigan State picked up a commitment from offensive lineman Nick Samac from Mentor, Ohio. Samac is a 6-foot-5, 270 pound lineman who plays for powerhouse Mentor High School. He is listed as three star offensive guard by 247 sports, but is a guy who can project across the line.

Samac is a very athletic offensive lineman who excels in pull blocking and getting out front to set up screens. He uses his plus athleticism to get to the second level while run blocking. Samac has a really strong punch that he uses to stun defenders before finishing them off. He slides his feet well and uses great technique with his hands while pass blocking. Samac is a guy who prides himself on blocking through the whistle.

Samac chose Michigan State over other top offers coming from Minnesota, Indiana, Duke, Vanderbilt and Boston College. His offer list started to blow up after receiving his offer from Michigan State. Since then he received eight more offers, three of which came from other Big Ten programs.

I was able to speak with his father, Joe Samac, and got some thoughts on what Nick and his family thought separated Michigan State from everyone else. He told me it was an immediate rapport with coach Staten, Bollman and head coach Mark Dantonio. Nick felt a real sense of trust from the coaches and was able to see himself spending the next four to five years there. Nick was also very impressed with the facilities and the beautiful campus .

Samac joins Spencer Brown as the second offensive line commit for the 2019 class. Michigan State is looking to take four offensive linemen minimum in the class, but more than likely five. Some other top offensive line targets for offensive line coach Mark Staten are  Devontae Dobbs, Nick Broeker, JD Duplain, Damon Kaylor and Zach Carpenter.
