Kellen Mond vs. Nick Starkel: Yet another quarterback battle

This is the one everyone knows about, the one everyone is writing about and talking about. Who will start for Jimbo Fisher and company at quarterback in 2018?

Will it be Nick Starkel, the one who worked and worked to get the starting spot in 2017 only to have it taken away due to an injury, the kid obsessed with Justin Bieber and the Aggie football program? Will it be Kellen Mond, the true freshman who was thrown into the fold in the wake of Starkel’s injury? These questions will bubble around Aggieland until an announcement is made by Jimbo Fisher.

I’ll tell you what I do know. Between his showing in the fall and the spring game, Kellen Mond has made quite the argument for the starting position. He is more mobile than Starkel and seems to have gotten his throwing arm under control. He has improved quite a bit since his first time in Maroon and White against UCLA in 2017. However, the question is has he done enough to win the battle against Nick Starkel?

Starkel has shown in what time he did play that he is reliable and a viable starter, however he will have to prove that to Fisher and company just like he did to Kevin Sumlin. This question will likely not be answered until the end of fall camp, but it seems to be the only one Aggie fans are paying attention to. My gut tells me Kellen Mond has the starting spot locked up, but we shall see what happens.
