Arkansas Football: Quick improvement possible for Razorbacks in 2018
Previewing the offense
Most of the focus for the offensive side of the ball for the Hogs comes to the quarterback competition that should headline rising sophomore Cole Kelley and rising junior Ty Storey. Kelley is the most proven option that would make the most sense for Arkansas, at least on opening weekend.
If the Hogs do give the nod under center to Kelley, the supporting cast will need to help out more than it did in 2017. That starts with the stable of running backs that features Devwah Whaley, T.J. Hammonds, and Chase Hayden. If Whaley can bounce back from a tough 2017 campaign, while Hammonds and Hayden build off some solid work last year in limited playing time this is going to be a very productive group coming out of the backfield.
Possibly the most underrated position group for the Arkansas offense is the receiving corps. Bringing back a few upperclassmen such as Jared Cornelius, Deon Stewart, and tight end Jeremy Patton should be invaluable this fall. Cornelius is coming off an injury from last season and should lead the way for the receiving corps.
The last portion for the Arkansas offense comes along with the offensive line, a typical strength for this program. This is a very experienced group featuring lineman like Hjalte Froholdt and Johnny Gibson at guard. Despite the huge loss of guys like center Frank Ragnow, who went as a first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Hogs’ O-Line is going to be special.
