This slate for Arkansas features four non-conference matchups and two cross-conference matchups against the SEC East. That draw from the SEC East stacks up pretty nice since the Hogs will avoid the three projected top squads in that division including the reigning National Champion runner-up Georgia Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks, and the now Dan Mullen-coached Florida Gators.
Instead, Arkansas draws star quarterback Drew Lock and the Mizzou Tigers and the Vanderbilt Commodores. It’s likely that Mizzou will be favored over the Hogs in Columbia, MO, but Arkansas should be a heavy favorite over Vandy at home. Yet, if Arkansas takes care of business in both of the cross-conference contests and the four out-of-conference games that come all against Group of Five schools and the FCS, that’s six wins right there.

The tough part here is the draw against the SEC West. Landing the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies, all on the road is no easy task. Arkansas is also likely to be a massive underdog against the Alabama Crimson Tide at home. That matchup with a possibly regressed LSU Tigers squad is big too. If Arkansas can take even just two wins against divisional competition, this will be one of the most improved Power Five programs in the nation in 2018.
