Heisman Trophy: 5 Dark horse candidates to watch in 2018
Missouri senior Drew Lock has kind of become the forgotten man in the quarterback-heavy SEC, and that’s mostly due to Missouri having such a bad team for the past three seasons. Despite the Tigers struggles, Drew Lock has been a bright spot for Mizzou fans.
Lock led all FBS quarterbacks last season with 44 touchdown passes and threw just 13 interceptions. He has grown into one of the most accurate passers in the nation, completing nearly 60 percent of his staggering 419 pass attempts in 2017.
Right now, the blistering stat line is all Lock really has in his favor when it comes to serious consideration for the Heisman.
Much like BC’s AJ Dillon, Lock will need more than just an impressive stat sheet to find his way on to some Heisman ballots. If Missouri can improve on last season’s 7-6 mark, and become part of the mix to win the SEC East, Lock’s chances of serious Heisman candidacy would improve vastly.
