Pittsburgh football recruiting absolutely killed it on Sunday with 9 commits
Pittsburgh football recruiting has been on fire of late, landing 11 commitments in the past eight days and nine of them came on Father’s Day.
In the recruiting world, landing a couple of commitments on the same day is considered impressive. Heck, landing three pledges in one day is almost unheard of. However, Pittsburgh football and head coach Pat Narduzzi did the unthinkable on Father’s Day, landing an incredible nine 2019 prospects.
Yes, you read that correctly, the Panthers landed nine 2019 pledges in one day — talk about a nightmare for Pittsburgh beat writers.
Although none were four-star prospects, the Panthers landed nine solid prospects. Look at the list of commits, the Panthers landed defensive end Brandon Mack, safety Brandon Hill, pro-style quarterback Davis Beville, defensive end Bryce Nelms, defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, defensive end DeAndre Jules, safety Khadry Jackson, running back Vincent Davis and outside linebacker Brandon George on Sunday.
The commitments came from all over the country, mostly the East Coast, such as Florida, South Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey and Alabama.
Even more incredible, Pitt didn’t have a single commitment in its 2019 class as of June 9, but the Panthers landed three-star inside linebacker Leslie Smith from Miami on June 10 and three-star tight end Travis Koontz from California.
Some programs have trouble landing 10-15 recruits before National Signing Day and the Panthers have landed 11 since June 10. That’s actually incredible.

Pat Narduzzi is clearly doing something correctly in Pittsburgh even though he’s not landing the biggest names. It was that recognition of underrated talent that earned him some of the top defensive units while he was the defensive coordinator at Michigan State.
