Top 2020 safety Darius Snow arrived in East Lansing on the evening of June 19 and will spend the 20th with Michigan State coaches.

Darius Snow is a name that should be familiar with Michigan State fans. Percy Snow was one of the greatest players at Michigan State on the football field, an All-American linebacker for coach George Perles. Eric Snow was one of the greatest point guards to play basketball at Michigan State, while playing for Jud Heathcote. Eric was a fierce competitor who was lightning quick and ran the offense perfectly for coach Heathcote. On defense he was a fierce competitor who could completely take the guy he was guarding out of a game.

Enter Darius, the son of former Michigan State basketball All-time great Eric, and the nephew of Michigan State football All-time great Percy. He is a safety in the 2020 class, and ranked the No. 2 safety in the country by 247Sports.

Snow is a 6-1, 215-pound safety from Carrollton, Texas. As a player he is an elite level athlete with great speed and athleticism. He is able to flip his hips well in coverage and can lockdown a receiver the way his pops did on a basketball court. As you might imagine, Snow can absolutely lay the wood on a defender. When he tackles his man, they go backwards.

Michigan State football fans were buzzing when he announced he was on campus through his Twitter account. I was able to confirm with him that not only was he on campus, but it was a full-out blizzard. He is joined by his pops and a couple of his younger brothers, for what should be a memorable visit. Michigan State green is pumping through the veins of the Snow family, and being able to share this moment with his son is probably surreal for his pops.

I have heard reports they were joined by Percy as well, I will look to get confirmation from Darius when I speak to him again.

I hope to speak more about his visit after it is complete, and will get his thoughts on the visit, where Michigan State stands after it, and his pops reaction to his son’s visit to his alma mater. I was lucky enough to meet Eric a couple of times when I was a young kid, seeing his son being a successful player, is awesome and makes me feel old at the same time.
