Following a great visit and strong performance at the Michigan State football camp, Tate Hallock committed to the Spartans.

Michigan State football coaches offered legacy recruit Tate Hallock yesterday after a strong camp performance, Friday Hallock gave the coaches his commitment.

Hallock a 6-foot-3.5-inch, 190-pound safety from Grand Rapids, Michigan is the son of former Michigan State linebacker Ty Hallock. His brother Tanner is currently a walk-on linebacker at Michigan State.

The commitment from the Spartans legacy is a huge moment for the entire family. His brother and him dreamed about playing together at Michigan State where their Dad played. Tonight that dream became a reality.

His brother Ty could not be more excited about Tate’s commitment, saying:

"Completing a dream we put together is something we’ll never forget. Suiting up seeing Tate in the same locker room will motivate me to push him to his best, and I know he’ll do the same back. Completing the legacy is only the start, we need to leave a legacy that’ll be remembered forever. Our Dad started it, and we need to finish it. Young us would be proud, we’ve been bleeding green since birth."

Tate is a true football player. He is being brought in as a safety but is a guy who could also play outside linebacker or wide receiver. Tate has good speed, and plays with physicality and intelligence. He shows great instincts in pass coverage and lays the wood on the ball carrier. Tate is definitely going to be a program guy, who does the dirty work and pushes his teammates to give everything they have.

Hallock is the eleventh commit total for the Michigan State 2019 recruiting class. He is the third defensive back to give Mark Dantonio their commitment, joining Julian Barnett and Jordan Huff. The Spartans should add a few more great players in the coming weeks.
