Michigan State football coaches hosted a pair of 2019 Illinois athletes this week for camps. Will either commit to the Spartans anytime soon?
Anthony Williams is a 6-foot,190-pound running back from Bolingbrook High School in Chicago, Illinois. He attends same school as class of 2018 defensive tackle signee Dashaun Mallory. Williams received an offer from Michigan State after a very strong camp performance.
Williams is a do-everything type of running back. He is a one-cut running back that hits the hole hard. Williams has a lot of make you miss ability between the tackles, leaving defenders tackling air. He is also a very good blocker in the backfield. The part of his game that separates him from most running backs is his receiving skills. He is an elite route runner with very soft hands.
Another 2019 prospect from Illinois that camped at Michigan State was Alante Brown. Brown, from Simeon High School in Chicago is a freak athlete with elite speed. He plays quarterback for now, but he projects as a wide receiver in college.
Brown told me camp went really good, “I ran a 4.42 and 4.43 in front of coach Dantonio, also I broad jumped 10′.” Then he went and ran routes for coach Dantonio and wide receivers coach Samuels. Coach Dantonio told him he was able to do everything he was looking for.
Describing himself, he told me he is one of the most explosive guy’s you’ll see. When asked to break down his strengths and things he wants to improve at his answer was “my strengths are my speed, and my ability to make plays.” What he wants to improve the most is his route running, and getting in and out of breaks faster.

Michigan State football coaches told him an offer could come tomorrow or a couple of weeks down the line, to be patient with the process. Brown indicated that he is going to be. Asked what an offer from Michigan State he said “the offer would mean the world to me, MSU is my dream school.”
