After an incredible comeback win in last year’s national championship game, Alabama looks to continue its reign as college football’s top program.

It appears as though Alabama enters every year as favorites to win the National Championship. And rightly so. Year in and year out, Alabama dominates 90 percent of their games. Bama plays in the glorified SEC, and badly beats most other conference teams. The other 10 percent comes from the very rare upset or a close game against teams like, Auburn or LSU.

Furthermore, Alabama holds themselves to the highest standards in all areas required of a top college football program.

The same reasons why the Crimson Tide enter every year with the expectation of going undefeated are the exact reasons why they will win this year. First and foremost, Alabama has the best college football (and some argue all of football) coach ever, Nick Saban.

5. Nick Saban

The success of a college football team starts, at the top, with the head coach. The head coach is the clear cut leader of the team. Nick Saban holds every characteristic you could ask for in a head coach. It isn’t necessary to draw out all of Coach Saban’s accomplishments. It is simple. He knows how to win. He is tied for the most national championships at the college level and he has won championships at multiple schools.

Coach Saban’s endless competitiveness is why Alabama will continue to win. His perfectionist attitude and inability to ever be satisfied is the exact reason why Alabama will be poised to win every game this year. In addition, Saban drives his players and coaching staff to share the same approach to the game as he does. He demands excellence at all levels, at all times.

It does help that Coach Saban has talented players to work with. Historically, Alabama’s offense is driven by their talent at the running back position. However this year, the team has two quarterbacks with Heisman level talent.
