1. The Jimbo Fisher effect

Kevin Sumlin did a decent job in College Station, but he never took that next step as a national title-caliber head coach. He was a players coach but just didn’t have what it took to contend consistently in the SEC and 8-4 just isn’t going to cut it at Texas A&M — clearly.

Jimbo Fisher brings a different type of experience and intrigue with him to College Station. He has the recruiting prowess that sets him apart and he can also turn those same blue-chip recruits into All-Americans rather than let them sit there and waste their talents away by being under-utilized. Oh, and he already has a national title under his belt.

There’s a reason Texas A&M is shelling out millions of dollars for the head coach, prying him away from Florida State: He knows how to win.

Not only does he relate to his players, but he uses them correctly. He knows what it takes to compete with the nation’s top programs, and he’ll be able to do that right away.

As long as the team buys into his system from day one, the Aggies will be instant contenders, whether the rest of the SEC wants to believe it or not.
