Michigan State football: Spartans land all-purpose RB Anthony Williams
Michigan State football stays hot on the recruiting trail as they add three-star running back Anthony Williams on Friday afternoon.
Michigan State football coaches have received the commitment from running back Anthony Williams who is from Bolingbrook High School in Chicago, Illinois, the same high school as freshman defensive tackle Deshaun Mallory.
Williams is a 6-foot-0, 190-pound do-everything running back. He is a one-cut running back that hits the hole hard, and also has the speed to hit the edge and bounce it outside. Williams has a lot of make you miss ability, and leaves defenders tackling air a lot. He is a guy who takes a lot of pride in his blocking responsibilities and excels there.
The part of his game that really helps separate him from other running backs is his pass-catching abilities. Williams is an elite route runner out of the backfield and has very soft hands. Having a running back that can block and catch the football is huge for an offense on third down.
Williams received his offer from the Michigan State football coaches on June 20 after a very strong camp performance in East Lansing. Mark Dantonio has been recruiting him for three years, and after seeing just how far he’s taken his game, they knew he was a player they wanted in their class.
Michigan State wasn’t the only camp Williams has shined at this spring, he has dominated every camp he attended this spring. He often walked away with the running back MVP award, as well as putting up some of the best testing numbers across the entire country at The Opening, an elite camp that has regional camps all over.

Williams becomes the 14th commit for the Michigan State 2019 recruiting class. He is the second running back to commit to the Spartans, joining Brandon Wright a physical running back who committed to the Spartans a day earlier. Look for the Michigan State class to continue to grow quickly.
