All programs in the SEC West faces a ton of pressure to perform on the field year in and year out and Arkansas football is no exception.

Arkansas football has really tested the nerves of its fan base recently. A rough end to the tenure of coach Bret Bielema signaled a potential long-term change for the program. However, new head football coach Chad Morris will have a long way to go to establish some immediate change in the locker room culture for the Hogs.

There was a ton of change that came in for Arkansas during the off-season on both sides of the ball. Arkansas mainly needed something to give on defense since it had one of the worst outings of any SEC defense in 2017. Bringing back some key pieces for the 2018 campaign at every level of the defense could be huge this season.

On offense, things might be even more of a mystery for the Hogs in terms of the passing game. No clear determination of a starting quarterback is made yet. Rising sophomore Cole Kelley seemed like the obvious option at the conclusion of the 2017 campaign.

The departure of quarterback Austin Allen created a bigger quarterback competition than probably anticipated last year. However, it should be decided between Kelley and a career backup in Ty Storey when it’s all said and done.

Quarterback play is huge for Arkansas in 2018, but the running backs and receiving corps have more than enough talent and depth for this offense to be efficient. Both the offense and defense have the path to success in place.

Finding a better result this year is all about executing what Morris has in store to turnaround this program. These fans were treated to a few decent seasons under Bielema, but mostly mediocrity in SEC play. They’re ready for a turnaround to come around soon.

A six or seven-win season would be a realistic expectation for the Hogs in 2018. An easy 2018 slate keeps things in line for a comfortable bridge into SEC play. Find that groove and reach bowl eligibility this year, and the fans wouldn’t be too upset at the outcome for 2018.
