8. No. 22 Texas A&M defeats Auburn, 63-21

Oct. 27, 2012

Once since joining the SEC has Texas A&M defeated both Alabama and Auburn in the same season. They did it in 2012, taking down both schools from the Yellowhammer state on their own turf with the victory over Auburn serving as a precursor for what was to come.

The win came on the heels of a close loss to No. 6 LSU and helped solidify the Aggies’ status as true contenders in the SEC West. It was games like this one, big wins over storied programs, which put the Aggies on the map in the SEC.

Defeating Auburn in 2012 gets lost in history because of that landmark upset over Alabama a few weeks later. However, the absolute undoing of one of the premier programs in college football cannot be overlooked. It’s true, Auburn had a dysfunctional season that year, finishing winless in SEC play. Still, they went toe-to-toe with LSU but were no match for Manziel and crew.

Manziel efficiently routed the Tigers, needing just 16 completions and nine carries to tally 350 total yards and five touchdowns. He picked up four of those five scores in the first half. The game was so one-sided that Jameill Showers had time to come in. He completed all eight of his passes for 59 yards and a score.
