College Football: 5 Surprise teams that could contend for a New Year’s Six Bowl

As the 2018 college football season approaches, these teams look to shock the nation and finish their season on New Year’s Day!

Every year we encounter a few teams that exceed expectations and make a run at one of the six coveted New Year’s bowl games. For those of you who are new to college football, or have been living under a rock, the New Year’s Six bowl games include: The Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Peach Bowl and Cotton Bowl. Every year those six bowls rotate in pairs of who hosts the semi-finals in the College Football Playoff.

Last season, one of those surprise teams included the 2017-18 National Champions. Although it was self-proclaimed, the UCF Knights finished their championship season undefeated, and with a win over the Auburn Tigers in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Like the Knights of 2017, many teams enter the 2018 season wanting to shock the college football world but only a few will accomplish that goal.

Which under-the-radar squads could find their way into one of college football’s premier bowl windows before the season is through?
