North Carolina football had a disastrous 2017 season. Can the Tar Heels rebound and make some noise in the ACC this season?

It could not get much worse for North Carolina last season. They finished 3-9, their worst finish since 2006 when they finished with the same record. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year but three wins is bad, especially when one of those victories came against an FCS opponent.

The Tar Heels were hit by the injury bug last year. The good news is while it is still a young team, a lot of experience was gained especially by the offense. It should come in handy this season as they try to bounce back and notch more wins.

There is a lot of talent at the skill positions and coach Larry Fedora has been recruiting well, finishing in the top five of the conference the last five recruiting cycles per 247 Sports. Fedora is only three seasons removed from running the conference all the way to the ACC Championship game. Tar Heel fans know that this year probably will not rival that season, but getting back to a bowl game is a good goal for the team to set.

Improvement should be on the horizon for the Tar Heels. Let us take a look at this year’s team and predict their season.
