Alabama Football: Breaking down the quarterback battle entering 2018
By Shane Lunnen
For the first time in a while, Nick Saban has himself a quarterback controversy. Who will be the starting quarterback for Alabama football in 2018?
As Nick Saban and Alabama embark on another season to reach the top, there is one, big lingering question. Who will be the starting quarterback when the season opens Sept. 1 against Louisville?
It is a good problem to have for Saban. He has two very talented quarterbacks with experience and a lot of confidence in their own abilities. Can Saban really make a bad choice when it comes to his quarterback? He has won five out of the last nine national titles and is untouchable in Tuscaloosa. Not too many people question your decision making with that kind of track record.
This past week at SEC Media days, the quarterback race was of course a topic of discussion. Saban was non-committal, saying what we already know and both quarterbacks are capable of leading the team.
Most prognosticators are leaning one way in this quarterback battle. Nevertheless, let us evaluate each player and make a decision.
