They say love conquers all, but don’t tell this to an Alabama football fan who’s new bride is an LSU fan. Even love couldn’t get in the way of this rivalry.

Love is a strange thing sometimes. There’s only one problem. What happens when love is interjected into one of the biggest rivalries in the SEC? We found out when an LSU fan married an Alabama fan over the weekend.

The groom — whose name is Johnny — was cutting the first piece of cake at the wedding. The cake had white icing with red trim and the Alabama logo on the top. The problem: the bride is an LSU fan.

As he was cutting into the cake people were heckling. They were saying not to screw up the cutting of the cake. Johnny responded, “We don’t screw up national championships.”

The bride — Bekka — had a little surprise for Johnny though. When he was don cutting the first piece, the joy was wiped from his face as the first piece of cake was falling to the plate. While the outside of the cake had Alabama colors, the cake itself was purple and gold — LSU colors.

The look on his face was priceless as her guests started chanting, “L-S-U!” Even at a wedding, you can’t escape deep-rooted college rivalries.
