Supremely talented quarterback Malik Henry is a star of the third season of Netflix original Last Chance U. Where could he wind up next?

One of the most intriguing stories for the third part of the hit Netflix series Last Chance U comes from a former Florida State Seminoles quarterback Malik Henry. As one of the highlighted players in this part of the series, Henry consistently had the spotlight on him even at a community college.

As one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks from the 2014 recruiting class, Henry was a highly touted signee for Florida State and former head football coach Jimbo Fisher. Florida State kept Henry around right up until the start of the 2016 campaign. That was the year that then freshman quarterback Deondre Francois was introduced to the bright spotlight of Power Five conference football.

Henry could’ve been the most athletic and dynamic quarterback the Noles had at the time. However, off the field issues crept into his life and he was ultimately suspended from Florida State. He was then forced to transfer out to a JUCO.

The JUCO he wound up at is the subject of the third part of Last Chance U. East Mississippi Community College was the focus of the first two parts. Now, Independence Community College has the spotlight for the third part.

Henry was the starting quarterback for Independence for the 2017 season. Depending on how the coming months go for Henry, he could find himself with one more chance at a Power Five program. It might not be the same chance he had at Florida State, but he could find himself as a starting quarterback at a solid program within the next two years.

For the 2017 season, Henry didn’t post the greatest stat line in the world. Yet, Henry’s raw athleticism and big arm will surely draw some interest before this recruiting cycle wraps up. As a three-star recruit according to 247Sports, Henry could see some high-profile interest coming his way soon.

Henry is ranked as the second-best JUCO dual-threat quarterback in the nation and the 26th best prospect overall. The top-ranked dual-threat quarterback for the 2019 class is already committed to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, in three-star Hinds Community College product Tylan Morton.

If Henry can keep it together on the field, he could generate some interest soon. It does seem like his time is really running short to make an impact at the highest level of the college football landscape. Independence head coach Jason Brown mentioned interest from Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners and Lane Kiffin and the Florida Atlantic Owls in the first episode of the third part of the series.

A program like OU took in a transfer quarterback from the Texas A&M Aggies in Kyler Murray to likely start in 2018. That could be a potential destination for him. Kiffin has taken players from EMCC and “Last Chance U” before, so he shouldn’t be afraid to take the risk on Henry who was already at a major program in Florida. Keep an eye on those two spots along with a program like the Texas Tech Red Raiders that needs a quarterback to plug and play soon.
