Just in time for kickoff, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have just opened an awesome new locker room. Here’s the scoop.

I like the Yellow Jackets. Despite the fact that they have been kind of scrappy in the last few years and have beaten the Seminoles more often than I’d like, I genuinely enjoy going to their games and I will root for Tech in most games (obviously not those games where they play Florida State).

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the storied history of the Georgia Institute of Technology, it is not only a damn fine football program, it is one of the top engineering schools in the country. So it comes as no surprise that the good folks at Tech gave us a sneak peek into their new locker room, and it’s awesome. It not only encompasses the latest technology, it also looks freaking cool.

The school spent $4.5 million on the new football locker room renovation.  Most of the people on the people on the project are Tech alumni, so it’s also been a labor of love. The cool part is that the ceiling actually resembles a Yellow Jacket hive with spiffy hexagonal ceilings. No, seriously.

According to the good folks at ramblinwreck.com, the new facility boasts a hydrotherapy area, a fancy new steam room, a hydration station, multiple audio-visual systems, power sources in every locker, backlit and branded walls.

It may not be quite as nifty as Clemson’s new digs, but then again Tech hasn’t won a title since 1990. The 8,100-square-foot space in Bobby Dodd Stadium was revealed to the football team this morning. They seemed pretty happy.

Honestly, the only thing I’m surprised at is how long it took. Tech has some of the wealthiest alumni in the country.
