No. 1: Rakeem Boyd, Running Back | Arkansas (2018)

Rakeem Boyd didn’t emerge in Season 3 until a few games in, but once he got rolling it was over for opposing defenses. The former 3-star recruit went to Texas A&M out of high school, but didn’t see any playing time as a freshman and transferred to Indy C.C. due to academics.

Once acclimated at Indy C.C., Boyd became the No. 1 threat. Even prior to stepping on the field in Kansas, though, Boyd had the support of the coaching staff.

“I believe we have the best running back in the country in Rakeem Boyd,” said Jesse Ornelas in the first episode, Indy C.C.’s running backs coach. “He’s an NFL back. If he scores on the first play, don’t be surprised.”

It took longer than the first play, but Boyd amassed 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Pirates. He enjoyed hurdling defenders — which always demanded a huge gasp from fans — but he could also lower his shoulder and bully his way forward.
