Former Michigan football quarterback John O’Korn wasn’t well-liked by fans for his play, and he was well aware of their disdain.

When you throw three interceptions against your in-state rival to contribute to a 14-10 loss on your own turf, fans are going to get ugly.

It’s an unfortunate part of sports. When you struggle, there are always going to be those fans who turn on you and treat you as if you’re not a human being with normal emotions. It’s usually those bad fans who speak louder than the supporters in times of adversity.

John O’Korn felt the brunt of the Michigan fan base’s anger following the Michigan State loss where he threw three interceptions and played like a less-than-adequate quarterback.

This was just one game after he passed for 270 yards and a touchdown to beat Purdue on the road — he was thrust into the starting role following Wilton Speight’s injury. He struggled again versus Ohio State, missing a wide open pass on fourth down that could have given the Wolverines good field position in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead.

He heard the worst from his own fans throughout the season. And he hasn’t forgotten.

On Monday, a Michigan fan on Twitter was curious as to why former players such as Ty Isaac and O’Korn were liking tweets from Michigan State journalists talking down on the program as well as some speaking ill of Jim Harbaugh — essentially turning their backs on the program.

O’Korn had this to say:

Many people jumped to the conclusion that he was talking about disliking Harbaugh, and his mentions exploded.

However, that apparently wasn’t the case.

So what could it be? He responded yet again shortly after with a more clarifying statement that made it seem like, yes, it could just be the fans.

Michigan fans are a passionate group of people and sometimes their love of winning can come off as arrogance and ignorance. O’Korn clearly wasn’t pleased with how he was treated during his time in Ann Arbor.

What say you, college football fans? Does O’Korn have a right to dislike fans for blasting him constantly for poor performances or was it warranted?
