Michigan State football landed one their top targets, when JD Duplain committed to the Spartan coaches

Michigan State football got huge news today when Strongsville, Ohio offensive lineman JD Duplain committed to the Spartans.

Duplain a 6-4 295 pound offensive lineman was offered by the Spartans on May 5th, and immediately became one of the top targets for offensive line coach Mark Staten. Landing his verbal today was a major pickup for the Spartan coaches.

Duplain chose Michigan State because of the relationship he had with the coaches, their ability to develop offensive linemen, and the success that MSU has had winning under head coach Mark Dantonio.

Duplain is a very physical offensive lineman who plays with an edge and  nasty streak. He is a very explosive run blocker with quick feet and strong hands. He is a natural hip bender that plays with a low pad level and slides his feet well pass blocking.

Duplain also worked out on the defensive line for the coaches at a Michigan State camp. He showed very well as a defensive tackle, showing great burst and power. While he has the versatility to play either side of the ball, I would expect him to play on the offensive side of the ball when he arrives in East Lansing.

Duplain had over twenty-five offers, and chose Michigan State, some of the most notable ones being from Arkansas, Indiana, Minnesota, Boston College and Kentucky. The relationship with the coaches and chance to compete for championships was too much to turn down for Duplain.

Duplain is the fifth offensive linemen to commit to Michigan State for the 2019 class, joining Spencer Brown from Walled Lake Western in Michigan, Damon Kaylor from Huntington North in Indiana, Nick Samac from Mentor High School in Ohio, and Devonte Dobbs from Belleville High School in Michigan. This is the best offensive line class the Spartans have landed in the Dantonio era, these five guys look to transfer it from paper to the field when they arrive in East Lansing.

Duplain is the sixteenth commit total for the Michigan State 2019 recruiting class. Duplain is the fifth offensive linemen to commit to the Spartans, and most likely the last offensive lineman the staff will add.
