A prime example of how individual pasts can affect the futures of players featured on Last Chance U is the difference between Isaiah Wright and Bobby Bruce.

One of the most tragic stories that came out of a player spotlighted on the Netflix hit docuseries “Last Chance U” at either East Mississippi Community College or Independence Community College involved a very likable running back. At one point, EMCC standout running back Isaiah Wright earned an offer from the Auburn Tigers.

Although that offer from Auburn would later be retracted due to off the field issues for Wright, it signaled what could’ve been for him given his immense talent level. There were two running backs in the first two parts of “Last Chance U” that had a ton of talent and weren’t able to make a whole lot out of it.

Wright now faces his fate in a murder trial while a fellow former EMCC running back D.J. Law didn’t make the most of the chance he had to compete with a rising Group of Five program in the UAB Blazers. However, at least Law still has the potential to make something of a career even if it’s not in football.

Since he was a fan favorite in the show, a lot of people could see the promise in Wright and a possibly bright future ahead. Yet, he ultimately didn’t get the support structure required to make the most of his football opportunity both at home and at “Last Chance U”.

On the other hand, ICC rising sophomore linebacker Bobby Bruce was one of the favorites of the show in Part 3. He looked to build on a quality finish to his freshman season in 2017 by gaining a few D1 offers in his sophomore campaign.

However, the final credits of Part 3 of “Last Chance U” showed that Bruce was not expected to be back because he was arrested for burglary earlier in the summer. However, Bruce’s recent Twitter timeline has multiple examples of why he could be back at ICC and that he isn’t facing additional off the field issues at this moment, at least that are of public knowledge.

Bruce still needs to get himself back on the right track for the 2018 season and beyond to have a successful college football career. ICC head football coach Jason Brown seemed to take a big interest in the potential of Bruce as both a player and a person in the most recent part on Netflix.

dark. Next. Could Bobby Bruce be back at Independence CC?

These are two different examples of how drastically different some of these talented and fan favorite players on “Last Chance U” can be impacted by their different situations. Hopefully, the situation that Wright finds himself in doesn’t repeat itself for any of the players at “Last Chance U” and that Bruce gets headed in the right direction on and off the field.
