Running Back

Starter: Travis Homer

Backups: Deejay Dallas, Lorenzo Lingard, Robert Burns

Travis Homer is the clearcut starter for the ‘Canes at the running back position. Homer has the size and speed to be an NFL back and flashed brilliance after Mark Walton went down with injuries in 2017. Homer ran for 966 yards on 5.9 yards per carry while scoring eight times on the ground. Also a weapon in the passing game, Homer averaged 12.2 yards per reception for Miami last season.

The backups are the versatile Deejay Dallas, a former high school quarterback. Dallas is listed as an athlete on the Miami roster and ran a wildcat package last season. After averaging 5.3 yards per carry and 23 yards per reception Dallas’ role will have to be expanded in 2018.

Five-star bluechip running back Lorenzo Lingard should get his share of touches in a crowded backfield, too. Lingard was the mold that kept the recruiting class building into the eighth best class in the country per 247 Sports.
