Last season Miami football was a playoff contender until crashing in the final three weeks. Can they remain in the national discussion this season?

In his second season at Miami, Mark Richt had the Hurricanes on the verge of a special season. In late November, the Hurricanes were 10-0 and ranked No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings. Hopes of an undefeated season came to a crashing halt in Pittsburgh in the last week of the season. Clemson would go on to destroy Miami in the ACC title game and the Hurricanes’ season ended with a thud against Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl.

While it was a disappointing end to a season full of promise, there is no doubt Richt has the program moving in the right direction. The Hurricanes should be the favorites to win the ACC Coastal division for the second straight year. But winning division titles is not the ultimate goal for Richt and company.

With a loaded defense that should rival most in the country, do the Hurricanes have what it takes to make this the year they get into College Football Playoff? Let us take a look at a game by game prediction.
