Arkansas Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2018 season
No, just because Dan Mullen is gone doesn’t mean the days of Mississippi State football relevancy is over. In fact, quite the contrary. Joe Moorhead, the former Penn State offensive coordinator, will be taking over and he may just turn Nick Fitzgerald into an All-SEC quarterback.
Mississippi State’s cowbell-ringing crowd provides one of the most daunting environments in the country and that’ll weigh heavily on the visiting Arkansas Razorbacks.
Fitzgerald will benefit from the coaching of Moorhead and it’ll show in this contest. He’ll get back to his old ways, passing for over 300 yards and rushing for another 50-plus. The senior quarterback will be the difference in this contest, out-dueling Cole Kelley.
Arkansas won’t be able to keep pace with the Mississippi State offense in this one as the Bulldogs won’t be able to do any wrong. Aeris Williams will also out-duel Devwah Whaley in the ground battle.
Fortunately, the Razorbacks won’t have to sweat out a bowl berth with the season finale next up on the schedule because this one won’t go their way.
Final Score: Arkansas 20, Mississippi State 42 (6-5, 2-5 SEC)
