This next matchup could cause some problems for the Razorbacks. No one wants to hit the road in non-conference play to face a Mountain West foe, but the Colorado State Rams could pull off a nice upset in Week 2.

Arkansas should be weary of this matchup despite the fact that the Rams are returning no quarterback with an attempted pass from a season ago and star wide out Michael Gallup is also gone.

Izzy Matthews is most productive returning player on offense, rushing for 613 yards and eight touchdowns last season and he’ll have a nice 100-yard game against the Razorbacks’ so-so run defense.

While the Rams may no longer have a top-15 offense without Nick Stevens at quarterback, Washington transfer K.J. Carta-Samuels will pick up the load and he could be an intriguing option under center. Heck have a near-600 yard receiver returning in Olabisi Johnson. Their connection could be huge in this one, especially with the Arkansas secondary looking to rebuild.

The Rams’ defense won’t be able to slow the Aransas offense as much as it would like, but this one will be closer than people expect. Colorado State will give Arkansas a serious scare in Fort Collins.

Final Score: Arkansas 37, Colorado State 33 (2-0)
