Even with the criticism that comes with it, scheduling a FCS opponent early in the season has it’s benefits. Teams are able to work out kinks from previous weeks and provide more in-game experience for those new to the offense.

Although Youngstown State is historically one of the best FCS teams of all-time, excluding 2016, recent years haven’t shown as much success as the Penguins haven’t made the FCS playoff since 2006.

So this should be an easy one for fans of both the Mountaineers and Penguins to figure out. Will Grier should only play 50 to 60 percent of the game, but still throws for 300 yards and four scores before being relieved sometime around the third quarter. A special teams touchdown from Marcus Simms puts the icing on this cupcake, as the Mountaineers roll over Youngstown State

Final: West Virginia 48, Youngstown State 13. Record: 2-0
