Will Muschamp is slowly turning around South Carolina. Can they make the jump up in 2018 to double digit wins?

A year ago South Carolina went 9-4 including a comeback victory over Michigan in the Outback Bowl. In year three of the Will Muschamp era, the Gamecocks are expected to take another step forward.

The first two years at South Carolina have followed a similar pattern to Muschamp’s first two seasons at Florida. He went 7-6 his first year in Gainesville followed by an 11-2 mark. The third year was bad at 4-8 and the following year was not much better, leading to Muschamp being ousted.

At South Carolina, the Gamecocks went 6-7 in 2016 followed by last year’s nine wins. Muschamp will look to avoid a third year slump with the Gamecocks.

Muschamp teams are nothing flashy. The offenses are pretty bland but they take advantage of their opportunities and the defenses are solid. Last year’s offense was one of the worst in the SEC, but the team still managed to cobble together nine wins.

With what looks to be a better team on paper and a favorable schedule, can the Gamecocks live up to higher expectations? Let’s dole out some game by game predictions on their season.
