1. Texas A&M has more weapons on offense

Yes, replacing Christian Kirk is no small task, but Texas A&M still holds the edge in skill positions over Texas. In his stead is sophomore Jhamon Ausbon, an IMG Academy product that caught 50 passes for 571 yards and three touchdowns last season. He enters 2018 as the No. 1 option for the Aggies and will go toe-to-toe with the Longhorns’ Collin Johnson for the title of best receiver in the state.

Johnson has the slight edge over Ausbon, for now. He produced a similar stat line in 2017 (54 catches for 765 yards and two touchdowns) but already has experience as the go-to guy in the offense.

After that, it’s all Texas A&M. Trayveon Williams has the speed, quickness and power that no one in the Texas backfield has demonstrated to date. He’s going to be the bell cow in Jimbo Fisher’s offense, and that means lots of yards and an uptick in production.

Elsewhere, Jace Sternberger has emerged at the tight end position. The Texas A&M Spring Game MVP is going to be a mismatch up the seam, especially with quick players like Rashaad Paul and Camron Buckley to stretch the field beside him. Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Devin Duvernay are nice pieces, but they combined for one touchdown last season for the Longhorns. Edge: Aggies.
