Caden Sterns is the 19th-best player in his class and the top player at his position. He’s listed as the backup to Brandon Jones, but he could start on the opposite side.

Sterns is an elite athlete, as he played wide receiver and safety in high school and also returned kickoffs and punts. He reads passes well and accumulated four touchdowns off interceptions in three years of varsity football.

Also, Sterns had 100 tackles from the safety position his senior year, which is very impressive. On special teams, he had three touchdowns from punt returns and one kickoff return for a touchdown.

Coach Tom Herman has thought very highly of Sterns ever since recruiting him to Texas, and he is a very special talent with the potential to contribute right away. If Sterns does not redshirt, he will likely contribute right away on special teams and could see time in the secondary throughout the season.
