Despite falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes last year, Penn State football will be a better team than their divisional rivals in 2018.

Penn State finished with an 11-2 record last season and a 7-2 record in conference play. Their only two losses came against Ohio State and Michigan State, which were both away games.

The Nittany Lions may have lost star offensive players like Saquon Barkley, Mike Gesicki, and Dasean Hamilton, but they return Trace McSorley, arguably the best quarterback in college football, and an improved offensive line.

Ohio State finished last season with a 12-2 overall record and an 8-1 record in conference play. Their only losses came against Oklahoma and Iowa.

The Buckeyes return many talented players from last year’s team, including J.K. Dobbins, who may be the top running back in college football. Off the field, there have been issues that may cause Urban Meyer to leave the program entirely, but Ohio State still has one of the top teams in college football.

Ohio State won a nail-biter last season against Penn State at home in a 39-38 comeback effort that helped Ohio State get to the Big Ten Championship Game, where they beat Wisconsin 27-21.

Penn State will be a better team this season for multiple reasons, even though they are down 18-14 in the overall series against Ohio State.
