Miami football has the fast track to win the ACC Coastal once again. Here are five reasons why the ‘Canes are better than the Seminoles in 2018.

The Miami Hurricanes enter the 2018 college football season as the S&P+’s 13th overall program. Their cross-state rivals, the Florida State Seminoles, enter the season ranked 18th. Up until 2017, the Seminoles held a clear lead on the Hurricanes and seemed like they wouldn’t loosen their grip on the state of Florida. Then Deondre Francois was injured in last season’s opener against the Crimson Tide and Jimbo Fisher’s ‘Noles slipped into a 7-6 funk of mediocrity.

Miami defeated Florida State 24-20 for the ‘Canes first win in the past eight tries. Jimbo Fisher had the ability to eek out close wins over Miami using the versatile Dalvin Cook or strong-armed Jameis Winston to keep their rivalry win streak alive. With Mark Richt‘s arrival in Coral Gables, the tide turned in only year two and Fisher left the ‘Noles to pursue richer interests.

Fisher is now at Texas A&M as the $75 million coach of the Aggies. Enter Willie Taggart- fresh off a 7-6 season of his own in Eugene, OR. Taggart’s Ducks struggled without their starting quarterback Justin Herbert and Coach Taggart left the pacific northwest and took his dream job in Tallahassee, FL. With Miami fresh off a road victory over FSU, the ‘Canes staff continuity, and hinged on other factors, the ‘Canes are on the right track for a big 2018 season while FSU is surrounded in questions.

Here are the five reasons why the Hurricanes will have a better 2018 than the Seminoles.
