A lot of pressure on Corey Batoon to turn the defense around

And then we come to a defense, which was terrible last season. They allowed an average of 33.9 points and 458.8 yards per game, ranking 106th and 115th respectively out of 130 teams.

More from Mountain West

The Rainbow Warriors will be hoping Corey Batoon can turn things around, after being named as the new defensive coordinator. If nothing else, he comes with an excellent reputation from his time with FAU.

And Batoon will have some help on the field, led by likely Butkus Award contender Jahlani Tavai, who will look to end his college career with a bang. Other defensive players who will play a pivotal role include Solomon MatautiaSamiuela Akoteu and Rojesterman Farris II.

Prediction

We predict the Rainbow Wariors will keep the game close early, spurred on by the energy and excitement that comes with the start of a new season. Ultimately though, the Rams will pull away during the second half and win 35-14.
