College football is upon us. Another season of ups and downs, twists and turns has begun. Here are my five bold predictions for the 2018 season.

This season is shaping up to be an interesting and yet possibly predictable one. Big questions come from teams trying to fill holes left by the departure of upperclassmen. Programs are swimming in the aftermath of not so great choices by players and coaches alike.

All that being said, let’s get bold ladies and gentlemen.

5. Washington vs. Auburn: High-rating & tone-setting

This is quite the matchup, especially for Week 1. Two ranked teams — No. 6 against No. 9 — live from Mercedes Benz Stadium. I’m not even going try to predict how this one will turn out, but I do know one thing: it will set the tone for both of these teams for 2018.

Washington quarterback Jake Browning is looking to return to the form he was in two years ago. Auburn will lean heavily on its secondary and will be looking for a starting running back to fill the spots of Kamryn Pettway and Kerryon Johnson.

It will also, in my opinion, be in the top-three this season in terms of TV ratings. It’s one of the first big-time matchups of the season, a fact that will draw viewers in like flies to honey. On top of that, each of these teams has a real chance to make the playoff. This game is going to be a big notch in the winner’s belt in terms of resume for sure.
