4. The ‘Noles will beat Clemson, but not Miami

It’s feasible that the Seminoles will be 5-0 by the time they head to Miami this season. Virginia Tech is going to be quite the roadblock, but the Seminoles are favored at this point. After that, the ‘Noles schedule should be smooth sailing until they make the trek to Miami Gardens.

Yes, Louisville is going to give the Seminoles a game, and I think that one is going to be closer than Taggart and Co. might like. This is where my reasoning lies — if the ‘Noles can make it past the Hokies in the first game, it will build confidence and momentum which the team could ride until they head to Hurricane Alley. You can bet that Mark Richt will be ready for them.

I don’t think it’s going to be a blowout by any means — the ‘Noles gave Miami a hard time last season. Afterwards, the ‘Canes imploded in their yearly post-FSU collapse, but they still had a far better season than the Seminoles did. Regardless, I think this game is going to be a Hurricane victory, as much as it galls me to state. Then the ‘Noles have a nasty three-game stretch with three different teams that have all beaten the Seminoles in the past.

After the 2017 season, this team will have something to prove, and I can’t see the ‘Noles with more than four losses this season. Clemson is not the team they were two years ago, despite having one of the best defenses in the country. Regardless, I think the home field advantage is going to give the ‘Noles the edge against Clemson and the garnet and gold will give the Tigers a very unpleasant surprise.
