Ohio State football gets a much need respite from off-field issues with their first game against Oregon State. The Buckeyes should crush the Beavers.

The Buckeyes have had a rough summer. Off-field issues have clouded what otherwise seems to be a promising campaign. There were questions about Urban Meyer’s status after the issues with former coach Zach Smith. Ultimately Meyer was suspended for the first three games of the season.

Instead of going with Greg Schiano or Kevin Wilson the Buckeyes will look at offensive coordinator Ryan Day to lead them during the first part of the season. He is regarded as one of the best offensive minds in the country and the Buckeyes should have no issue on that side of the football while Meyer is away.

The first test for Ohio State as they head into the 2018 season is against Oregon State who begins a new era of Beaver football under Jonathan Smith.

No one is expecting Ohio State to lose this game but could it be closer than people think? Take a look at my three bold predictions for this Week 1 showdown.
